Direct Lineage to
Joseph Pilates Himself
M I D D L E T O W N ' S O N L Y
Our founder trained under Kathy Grant … one of two people Joseph Pilates personally certified. This isn't fitness. It's the source.
Does This Sound Familiar …
You've tried the crowded gyms. The cookie-cutter classes. The instructors reading from scripts.
You showed up. You worked hard. And …
Your back still aches
Your core still feels weak
Your body still doesn't feel like yours
Here's the thing: that's not a motivation problem.
That's a coaching problem.

Here’s What Makes Pilates Oasis Different:
The Attention
6-12 per class. Always. Small enough for personal coaching. Large enough for community energy. You'll actually learn … not just follow along.
The Results
You feel the shift in 6 weeks. People usually come in wishing they had more motivation. After 6 weeks, they wonder how they ever lived without it.
The Lineage
Our founder trained under Kathy Grant … one of only two people Joseph Pilates personally certified. Every class connects to the original source.
Kathy Grant was one of only two people Joseph Pilates personally certified to teach his method. She trained me for years in her small studio at NYU.
Trained by Kathy Grant (Pilates Elder)
When I met Kathy, she was 80 years old with rock-solid abs. She told me I had no abs, didn't know how to breathe, and had problems I didn't even know about.
She was harsh. Old-school harsh. Would smack my belly to make it fire. Would stare at me like I'd failed even when I thought I was doing brilliantly.
But every time I walked out? I felt better than I'd ever felt.
Her cues bypassed the thinking brain and went straight to the body:
"Zip up your jeans that are too small."
"Buckle your belt that's too tight."
"Pull your belly button back and down."
After years of training, Kathy finally taught me "the hundred" … the hardest version. After watching me do it, she said in a surprised voice: "Good."
One word. And I knew I had arrived.
That's what we're doing at Pilates Oasis.
Not telling you you're good. Helping you get good.
Why I Brought
NYC Pilates to Middletown
I spent 20 years training clients in New York City … CEOs, celebrities, professional dancers. People who demanded the best.
But when my daughters got older, we moved to the country. Found a log cabin by a lake. Built an online practice. Trained clients nationwide for 10 years.
Then the pandemic ended, and I noticed something: people were craving connection. Tired of screens. Ready to move together again.
At the same time, Middletown was transforming … salons, boutiques, cafes, a running shop. A town becoming something special.
What cool town is complete without a real Pilates studio? Great coaching shouldn't require a Metro-North ticket.
Your First Class
Before class: Arrive 10 minutes early. We'll give you a tour, show you the equipment, and answer any questions.
During class: Let go of daily life. Get fully present with your body and what it truly needs.
After class: You'll feel taller, more open. Maybe sore in muscles you forgot you had. That means it's working.
Your Stronger Self is Waiting
Every week you wait is a week your body stays stuck in old patterns. You don't need to be flexible. You don't need to be "in shape." You just need to show up to class.
“In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you’ll see a difference, and in 30 sessions you’ll have a whole new body.”
—Joseph Pilates
Most fitness is backwards. Work harder. Do more. Feel the burn. Push through. And then you wonder why your joints hurt worse at 45 than they did at 35.
The problem isn't age … it's the foundation. You can't build strength on broken patterns. That's why we go slower. We rebuild the foundation. Then build strength that sticks.
Move With Intention Before You Move With Intensity
five points of quality
Opposition
Opposing forces create stability and length. Feet grounded, crown reaching.
Energy
What is your quality of movement? Soft or sharp? Light or heavy?
Lengthen
Internal length with minimal effort. Like a string from your crown, gently pulling.
Breath
"Breathing is the first act of life, and the last." —Pilates. We will learn to do it well.
Grace
Jump, not thump. Transition without crashing. Face relaxed when working hard.
